It's always important to know what you have in your computer, regardless of what you intend to do. It can help you figure out if a certain piece of hardware will work on your machine or not, what drivers you've got installed for a particular device and much more. LOGINventory can provide you with this kind of information and much more. It comes with a wide range of acquisition, analysis and reporting features, to give you any information you need about the hardware and software on your computer on a different machine on your local network. The software is particularly useful to IT workers since it can tell them everything about a computer, enabling them to fix any problems or avoid any issues when maintaining or upgrading it.

You can try the software for free, without encountering any significant functionality restrictions. The setup file is larger than that of most applications, but it shouldn't take too long to download with a modern-day connection. It may take some time to finish installing the program because it needs to set up and update a few tools.

When you look at LOGINventory's user interface and the options it has to offer, you will realize that it's much more than your run of the mill hardware reporting applications. It is capable of gathering much more information from your own computer or a remote host on your network. What's more, the software places a wide range of configuration options at your disposal, to help you acquire exactly what you need.

You can define one or more acquisition jobs, which show up in a list, from which you can run them individually or all together. Each job is configured on a tabbed window, on which you can find all sorts of useful options, for targeting single hosts by their IPs, scanning an IP range, retrieving a list of named items and more. You can also specify one or more user accounts, with or without their corresponding passwords, if a login is required. The interesting part is that LOGINventory doesn't limit you to generic credentials. You can also specify NetSnmp, SNMP or SSH credentials, which gives you many more possibilities.

The acquisition jobs you run can be monitored on the same user interface, in a different section, which you can access through an Explorer-like navigation pane on the left side. The program displays, in real time, a log of all events that occur during a job, including any issues it runs into. When a job is complete, you can start browsing, using the same navigation pane, to find every bit of information about the scanned computer. This includes names, IDs, serials, driver information and anything else you can you would want to know about individual hardware components or installed programs.

LOGINventory is a complete solution for gathering information about a computer's hardware and software.
